ADULT ADHD ASSESSMENTS IN PENNSYLVANIA
In-Person Evaluation for Accurate Diagnosis & Clear Next Steps
WHAT IS AN ADHD ASSESSMENT?
An ADHD assessment is a comprehensive, multi-session evaluation that looks at your current symptoms, developmental history, emotional patterns, and daily functioning. ADHD is often missed or misdiagnosed (especially in women) because it can overlap with anxiety, trauma, depression, autism, OCD, and mood disorders.
Our assessments include:
• Comprehensive clinical interviews
• Developmental and functional history
• Standardized ADHD rating scales
• Executive functioning and symptom screeners
• Emotional and behavioral assessments
These tools are evidence-based and widely used in adult ADHD evaluation. No single test can diagnose ADHD on its own. Accuracy comes from integrating multiple sources of data, your lived experience, and clinical expertise. This multi-method approach significantly increases reliability and diagnostic confidence.
Our goal is not just to arrive at a diagnosis, but to help you deeply understand your nervous system, your strengths, and the specific supports you need to thrive.
THE ADHD ASSESSMENT PROCESS
(STEP BY STEP)
STEP 2: INITIAL INTAKE SESSION (90 MINUTES | IN PERSON)
Your first session is a 90-minute in-person intake with Jess at our office in Ephrata, PA.. You’ll explore your personal history, family background, academic and work experiences, and current challenges related to attention, focus, emotional regulation, and executive functioning. Additional questionnaires and rating scales are also introduced at this stage.
STEP 1: GETTING STARTED
You’ll complete intake paperwork and initial screening assessments before your first session. This allows us to begin understanding your history, current concerns, and the areas where you may be struggling most.
STEP 3: FOLLOW-UP SESSIONS – THE DEEP DIVE (2–4 SESSIONS)
Over the next several sessions, we take a deep dive into your lived experience. Because ADHD symptoms often overlap with autism, trauma, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and OCD, this phase is essential for accurate differential diagnosis. These sessions explore patterns across childhood and adulthood, your coping strategies, your strengths, and how your brain processes stress, motivation, and emotion.
STEP 4: IN-PERSON & HYBRID FLEXIBILITY
For diagnostic accuracy, we require at least two in-person sessions at our Ephrata office. Additional sessions may be completed either in person or through secure telehealth, depending on your needs and circumstances.
STEP 5: DIAGNOSIS & FORMAL DOCUMENTATION
After all sessions and screeners are completed, Jess carefully reviews the full clinical picture and determines whether diagnostic criteria for ADHD are met. You’ll receive a comprehensive written summary of findings, including diagnostic impressions and clinical recommendations. This documentation can be used for your personal records, medical providers, or other professionals as needed.
STEP 6: FINAL REVIEW &
NEXT STEPS
In your final session, we review the results together in a supportive, collaborative way. You’ll leave with clarity, validation, and practical next steps, which may include a referral for medication management, workplace or academic accommodations, or ongoing ADHD-informed therapy.
HOW YOUR RESULTS SUPPORT NEXT STEPS
(WORK, SCHOOL & TREATMENT)
Your assessment results can be used to:
• Support medication consultation with a prescriber
• Request academic accommodations
• Advocate for workplace accommodations
• Guide individualized ADHD therapy
• Improve self-understanding and self-compassion
• Reduce shame through accurate diagnosis
This process is often deeply validating and life-changing for clients who have spent years feeling “behind,” overwhelmed, or misunderstood.

Frequently
Asked
Questions
What is an ADHD assessment?
An ADHD assessment is a structured, multi-session clinical evaluation used to determine whether you meet diagnostic criteria for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and to understand how it uniquely impacts your life.
What is your location and availability?
ADHD assessments are available to Pennsylvania residents only and require a minimum of two in-person sessions at our Ephrata, PA office. Hybrid options (a mix of in-person and virtual) are available for the remaining sessions when appropriate.
Assessments are available for adults only (18+) at this time.
What symptoms suggest ADHD?
Common symptoms include inattention, forgetfulness, impulsivity, emotional dysregulation, difficulty starting or completing tasks, time blindness, restlessness, and chronic burnout. Many adults also experience anxiety, shame, and low self-esteem related to untreated ADHD. Other symptoms may include: internal restlessness, disorganization, overwhelm, difficulty with relationships, masking, perfectionism and over-achieving.
How can I prepare for an ADHD assessment?
Come as you are. You don’t need to prepare answers or “prove” anything. Gathering any past evaluations, list of symptoms or mental health history can be helpful, but it’s not required. The most important piece is your lived experience. If you feel most comfortable having a list in front of you, in case you tend to forget things easily, we encourage you to accommodate your needs in whatever way you can.
How do I know if I should be evaluated for ADHD?
You may benefit from an assessment if you experience chronic overwhelm, difficulty with organization, focus issues, emotional reactivity, time management struggles, procrastination, or a long history of feeling like you’re “trying harder than everyone else” without results.
